#Jallikatu Issue ...... My Stand

For the past few days Chennai has been facing a turmoil on #Jallikattu , I very well understand this is a traditional sport showing valoury and I am recently informed that this sport activates the energy level of the bull and we will get native cows and this , sport shows our "Tamil Culture " and I suddenly see too many profile picture change , and calling themself "Thamizhan da" and students taking to serious protests.

This followed by huge protests in Chennai pulling out right from students, to politicians to film fraternity to add glamour. I make my stand very clear I have absolutely nothing against this sport or Tamil culture I am a Tamilian by birth and predominantly have lived in Tamil Nadu. I am proud of Chennai, and Chennaites who have always raised to occasion.

My questions are the following for the protesters :

1. Just by conducting Jallikatu once a year in a will we  be assured  of getting good quality cows and milk? I get a forward saying women after drinking milk, has PCOS , and we are having high carb diet so we are all having health issues .... How is Jallikatu going to help all this? Do we stop eating dosas and idly post this? # Jallikattu was stopped for couple of years, where were these protests then ?

2. This is Tamil Culture I hear why are we conveniently avoiding many of the Tamil Culture way of life. We have changed our dressing , many families don't elaborately celebrate any festival , girls party around... but this is called moving forward. Have we probed a gentler alternate to Jallikatu which will benefit the cow and people without any loss of life ?

3. I hear sudden protests against aerated drinks and people calling it as toilet cleaners, so for you to understand this you need Jallikattu protest? Hasn't simple science not thought us sugary drinks are bad for health?

Lets be clear for want of comfort and for social status we have moved forward using many American brands and products and happily telling around "nothing like America", "Foreign..foreign than.." etc...  Parents who were farmers have toiled to send their children to progress and are happy about it. I understand that when they suffer, we should support them by buying Indian products, and I try and include country diet right from millets to siddha medicines...

But this should be within us always and not just for a protest or to take selfies and comment around.  I think today, protest is going towards many unwanted directions, Jallikatu is a sport to do with animals, PETA being an organization just like WHO has put in rules. Lets protest it with valid reasons and then continue to live with our principles if yes this is a victory to our State  else it is a waste of productive time ....

No point in changing Dps , forwarding messages , and giving emotional speeches and then in a couple of days looking for the next opportunity to fly abroad to earn more, come out of your village/town and stand for hours for counseling and get into a city college or employment.

I am somebody who might not be able to fully go back to that lifestyle though I am ready to accept it with regret, that I am also one among'st you in depleting nature, but I will do things in a small way to get healthier and do my best and give back to nature.

I will follow my culture, try and take it forward by God's grace . I am a Tamilian by birth and will be Ernest to it in my own way ......I once again convey that # Jallikatu is important but this sudden provocation, forwards , talking about  Tamil culture and  and messages bring the above questions in me !!!!!!!.
